 Newer version Playmobil Nativity SetDec 14, 2011

I am always amazed at how captivated all of my children ages 7,6,4 and 21 months are by Playmobil. My children received this toy on Dec 6th to start thinking about the Nativity in anticipation of Christmas. I also purchased the three wise men and St Nicholas separately. The previous Nativity set by Playmobil came with the 3 Wise Men but the stable was completely made of cardboard. In this set they replaced the 3 wise men and the cardboard stable with a more durable plastic stable and only the backdrop of the star and scenery are plastic. My children were enthralled with the set. The older two liked to set it up and rearrange it while the 4 yr old loves to act out the story and put voices to the people and animals. The set has beautiful little details from the shepherd's cane to the angel's halo. The manger and the head piece of Joseph and Mary was neat too. It is absolutely precious and as always Playmobil is of higher quality than the average toy. I would highly recommend this set along with the Three Wise Kings by Playmobil and Saint Nicholas And Christmas Angel Separate FYI...b/c Playmobil on Amazon is mostly 3rd party sellers I have had better luck sometimes by going to the UTOYPIA website and buying directly from them. They sell on Amazon but sometimes you can get a better price and free shipping by going directly to their site. They also offer great sales.(Even better than Playmobil.com) You won't regret getting your kids into playmobil! The toys hold their value (ebay) and can be passed down for generations.

This is a great toy to start a holiday tradition with. We gave the kids a few pieces each day during the advent season. They really enjoyed the process of putting the pieces together and discussing the scene. It is a really complete set. We also purchased the Wise Men. Kids love Playmobile... we will use this for years to come.

My girls (6 & 4) LOVE this toy. I have seen many nativity sets marketed toward children, but this is by far the best. Overall excellent!

The playmobil nativity manger with stable is a great nativity set to have around for the kids to play with. I ordered mine in November and got it out right after Thanksgiving for my kids. I have 4 children 11 months-7 1/2 years old. We had to keep the the stable and pieces up high and away from my 11 month old who puts everything in his mouth! My 3 1/2 year old probably played with this the most. The backdrop (sky, trees, and star) is made of cardboard, so it is not very durable, however, since we left the whole thing in one place the whole month, it held up very well. I do wish the set came with a few more "characters", including the wise men, and maybe a few more shepherds. They are available for purchase separately. My kids enjoyed all the little extras that came with this one--the tripod and "fire, kettle, lantern, ax, chopping block, etc. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to add a hands-on, child friendly set to their nativity collection.

I bought this when my children were smaller and kept trying to play with the fancy, hand-painted Nativity set under our tree. After losing baby Jesus several times I got them their own set!
(My set may be ever-so-slightly different, but still a Playmobil Nativity Manger set - we bought it 12 years ago).
The set is durable and has many tiny creative parts that my kids love to arrange and re-arrange. Even as teenagers it's their favorite!! And we HAVE to set this up first thing when we get out our other Christmas decorations.
